FIRST DAY AT PROJECT WALK

Posted in News on November 30, 2009 by rossi8

Hello everyone!

Ross here!  Today was my first day at PROJECT WALK!  After a brief introduction, I started doing my evaluation work with one of the original founders of the company, Eric.  Mostly it was testing me for muscle movement and finding out what I could do, but eventually the testing got harder and harder!  Some of the stuff would not be so difficult if my legs worked, but they don’t and it was tough!!  I couldn’t believe this was only the testing!

Finally I was turned over to a female therapist named Kim, and she had me doing leg weight machines.  I found out that my “glutes” muscles are functional, something that I didn’t know, and I was able to do some reps on the leg machine!

The last thing that I did was get hooked up to a special stationary bicycle that operated by hooking electrodes to my legs and shocking the muscles to make my legs peddle the bike.  When it was running by my own pedaling power, it was really weird.  I felt a burning shock on one electrode hooked to my butt, but it was not unbearable.  I peddled the bike for 15 minutes, and my first session was finished!  I can’t wait until tomorrow!

Great News From Ross!

Posted in News on November 24, 2009 by swap48

Today, when I went to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatment, I was flexing muscles in my abs and back while I was in the chamber. When I got out, my legs were tingling as usual, but when I started slapping my legs to try and feel something, my sweatpants kind of pulled behind my knee and I felt something. I pulled my pants up and started dragging my fingernail behind my right knee and I could feel some sensation in that area! It isn’t normal, but I can still feel something and nothing on the left side, so I am going to pay attention to it. Another weird thing is that whenever I come out of the chamber, my right foot is cold to the touch but the left one is warm?!?!? It shows some kind of circulation deal going on there….usually during the day, either both are warm or cold…

Look Who Else is Stylin’

Posted in News on November 23, 2009 by swap48

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto worked with Ross for the first time before the start of the 2009 season, when he first signed with the factory Kawasaki team. Ross told me that Ryan had a good feel for the bike and had good feedback. When I told Ryan that Ross had said that about him, he said, “Oh that’s cool! Because you never know if the suspension guys think you are a kook, or what…”

Ok, now that I’ve made you laugh, click the STORE button and buy a Rossi shirt! 😉

Oh yeah! If you have already bought a Rossi shirt, please e-mail me a photo of yourself in it with a caption to accompany it. Once I’ve gotten a few, I will add a photo gallery to this site! Send to donn.maeda@transworld.net

Ross Maeda Benefit Ride Day

Jason Lawrence is one of the most controversial riders in motocross: people either love him or hate him. J-Law is one of Ross’ favorite riders to work with, not only because he is super talented on a bike, but also because he is funny as hell.

Currently, Jason is in jail for some mischief, but I’ve heard through both his team manager Chris McAvoy and his agent Scott Sepkovic that he was super bummed to learn of Rossi’s injury. Even though he’s in lockdown, Jason wanted to do his part to help Ross, so J-Law Racing is making these sweet event shirts for the Ross Maeda Benefit Ride Day that’s coming up on December 6th. Pretty cool, right? At TransWorld MX, we get plenty of crap for giving Jason so much play, but I think this move should earn Jason a few new fans. Thanks, Jason!
