Obamicon.me

While surfing the web today, I came across a cool web site that converts any photo you load into an Obey-style poster, much like the Obama presidential art that is so popular. Naturally, I loaded Ross’ mug into it!

Heh heh…

On another note, I spent the day working at my new office in Carlsbad, and just before the 5:00 whistle blew and I slid down the brontosaurus’ tail like Fred Flintstone, I realized that Rossi would be down the street at Project Walk. I caught his last 15 minutes of therapy, and he was in a great mood. Today, his right leg was drenched in sweat after his standing frame session. What’s the big deal, you ask? Well, normally, paraplegics do not sweat below their point of injury. The very fact that Ross’ leg was perspiring is a great sign!

Go Ross!

Jason Lawrence Supports Ross

Posted in News on December 28, 2009 by swap48

Spent some time with Jason Lawrence this evening, and it was really good to see him. He seems focused and glad to have his freedom, and I am hoping that he will make good use of his natural talent in 2010. Jason’s team web site, www.jlawracing.com has Rossi support T-shirts and hats available for sale. Please take a moment to check them out!

Thanks, Jason. And good luck at Anaheim 1!

All Caught Up With Support Item Orders!

Posted in News with tags , on December 27, 2009 by swap48

Almost unbelievably, we SOLD OUT of T-shirts and bracelets at the December 6 ride day, and we just recently got our new order of stuff from the guys at T&K Printing. Tonight, Samy, Meg and I filled backorders for over 100 T-shirts, bracelets and stickers. That said, if you made a donation on or after December 6 and are wondering where your stuff is…it’s on the way! Sorry for the delay, and thank you for your support!
By the way…we know that there are over 400 Rossi T-shirts out there, so send us a pic of you wearing yours! So far, we have photos of James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto, but we need more! It doesn’t matter if you shoot it with your cameraphone, myspace style…just send it! We want to post a big photo gallery when we’ve gathered enough. Send your photos to donn.maeda@transworld.net
Thanks!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Posted in News on December 26, 2009 by swap48

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! We had Christmas dinner at our house this year and Eileen, Samantha, Megan and I were all super excited to have Ross and his girls over. They even spent the night, and my kids were over the moon to have their cousins here. Nikki even went into the jacuzzi at like 11 p.m. with crazy Samy and Meg…

Ross’ youngest daughter Molly goes to school in the San Francisco area and lives with our cousin Pam and her husband Alan. She is home for the holiday break and I know that Ross is glad to have his complete family at home with him.

Nikki, Molly and Eileen… (See Molly’s bracelet? You can get one in the “store” area! hint hint…)

Happy Holidays to everyone, and here’s to a great 2010. I have a feeling that some good things are in store for us all…

Project Walk

Posted in News on December 26, 2009 by swap48

Last week, Rossi made it back to Project Walk and it was great to see him working out again. Because PW is only a mile or two from my new office in Carlsbad, I dropped in on his workout session and snapped a few pics…

The trainers found that since he took the previous week off, Rossi’s leg muscles were very tight. He had an extensive stretching session before getting to work.

This trainer’s name is Satchi, and here, he is helping Ross do assisted squats on the Total Gym. He said that he can feeel the muscles in Ross’ legs firing when he pushes up!

Here, Satchi and Rodney have Ross’ feet strapped into a stationary bicycle. Together, they manually move Ross’ legs in a pedaling motion. Ross and I were both kind of thinking, “Pfft…what good does this do?” But when they pedaled backwards, Ross’ legs moved in a real notchy manner. Satchi said that this was because his hip flexors were firing! Sweet!

This coming week, Ross only has one session at Project Walk. Due to the holidays, they have a very limited schedule. Nonetheless, it is great to see him back at work and trying hard. Go Rossi!

Wheelchair Exercise

WHEELCHAIR EXERCISE

I’ve decided that I need to work out my upper body, as most of the therapy at PROJECT WALK is focused on getting my legs moving again. In the picture, I am doing laps around the block with Molly.

RETURN TO PROJECT WALK

Posted in News on December 23, 2009 by rossi8

Yesterday, I went back to PROJECT WALK after a week away. I was really tight, and had to be streched out, but it felt good. We did some different exercises and also some new therapy machines. I felt pressure on the bottoms of my feet, and also some vibration in my shins, which I’ve never felt before. When I got home I was pretty sore, but this morning, I woke up and the swelling in my leg has definitely gone down!
