Rossi Project Ride Day 2010!

Hello all! It’s been nearly a year since Ross suffered paralyzing injuries in a crash at Starwest MX Park, but he continues to make progress and is determined to make a full recovery. He’s had some ups and downs in the past 11 months, but one thing remains consistent: his fighting spirit and upbeat attitude. Currently, Ross makes it in to work at enzo racing several times per week, works out at the Goodwill Fitness Center four times per week, and has a weekly therapy session at Project Walk and a hyperbaric oxygen chamber treatment at the Whitaker Wellness Institute.

As it has been since the day he was injured, my goal is to help my brother as much as I possibly can, in every way possible. Last year, we held an amazing benefit ride day at Perris Raceway and the response and support was overwhelming for me, Ross, and our families. Because insurance only covers so little, being faced with time in a wheelchair can be ridiculously expensive, especially if you are determined to get better. As it stands, insurance companies only want to help you become accustomed to your new life in a chair, and will not cover any additional therapies or equipment.

Ross has shown me some of the new developments that he has enjoyed in recent months – the most surprising being his ability to “rise” into a hands and knees position and hold himself there – and I just know that there’s plenty more to come.

Malcolm McCassy Sr. has been awesome, and had donated the track to help Ross out. We are having a ride day on Saturday, October 9, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Last year, the track at Perris was so packed that it wasn’t very fun to spin some laps, but with the 13-hour window that Starwest MX Park has granted us this year, I’m sure that there will be room to accommodate everyone. If you are in town, please…come out and help me, help Ross.
